A Past Prophetic Message Relevant for the Present

East Side Missions Temple of God Ministries members spent time today (February 6, 2022) studying The Book of Micah instead of having regular services and streaming live. Micah only has seven chapters, yet the strong language by the Prophet is one that holds a powerful warning not just for those who lived before Jesus Christ was born, but for present times. The Prophet Micah provided prophecy of the "birth of the messiah 700 years before his birth."

Three specific points were covered in our discussion: 1) sins of the people; 2) punishment that God sent; and 3) hope of restoration. Despite the warnings of Micah to the people regarding their choices of greed, trusting in false prophets instead of the truth of God's word, and the failure of leaders during that time to protect the people; they chose to follow whatever benefitted them, instead of following God's principles. Micah responded to the people to tell them that "...the LORD has already told you what is good, and this is what he requires, to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." God speaks to his people to "Fear the LORD if you are wise." [Micah 6:8-9 - The New Living Translation Bible]

During the time of judgment, the Prophet Micah tells the people "...your enemies will be right in your own household." [Micah 7:6] The emphasis prior to these words names specifics of friends and family members who will be at odds with one another. Luke 21:16-17 gives a similar recount of what will happen in the last days of the "signs of Christ's coming." "Even those closest to you - your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends - will betray you." (N.L.T.) Therefore, that which Micah warns of has a future prophecy that is spoken by Jesus (words in red from The Holy Bible). May we take heed to all of The Bible as it is written to give us guidance for how we should live in a time where there is lawlessness, deception, and uncertainties. We must hold on to the profession of our Faith in Jesus Christ as the answer for salvation.

I encourage you to read The Book of Micah and I John 5 and pray for an understanding of these readings. May God Bless you always as His peace is with you in the midst of a controversial society.
