"NEW MERCIES"

Brief Background on The Book of Lamentations: A time is described of the desolation in Jerusalem after being invaded by the Babylonians. Despite the overwhelming suffering that is witnessed by the prophet, displacement, and personal homelessness faced by him, The Prophet Jeremiah "turns tragedy into a triumph of faith." (The Open Bible New Living Translation) He still has hope because he remembers that God had never "failed him in the past" and he lauds out in Lamentations 3:23 "...Great is thy faithfulness."

Mercy is the forgiveness and compassion that The Lord grants us to "withhold punishment and/or judgment that our sins deserve."

When we go through our own struggles, have we been able to reflect on how the Lord brought us out of a situation and trust Him enough to be confident that He will do it again? During this time when the United States and the rest of the World is challenged by plagues, economic downfall, and ongoing conflict; we have a Savior in Jesus Christ who we can look to for help.

As we pray to let Mercy abound upon us that the Heavens will yield upon us the Grace to endure what is to come, focus on the goodness of God. No one can stop the plight of humanity, except The Almighty God. May we put our hope in the promises of God that offers us salvation freely that is obtained through Jesus Christ. Who but a Merciful God would give us "His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." [John 3:16] Therefore, we can look forward to a "new heaven and a new earth..." [Revelation 21:1] May you have a Blessed week filled with an abundance of all that God's Grace and Mercy has in store for you. I leave you with this additional scripture for comfort: "Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." [Jude, verse 21]

(Relevant Scriptures: Psalm 67 (all); Lamentations 3:18-32, John 3; Jude verses 20-25; and Revelation 21)
