Relevant Scriptures: Numbers 10:1-10; Daniel 3; Mathew 24:25-44; Revelation 1:11-18; 8:1-13
Some sounds are similar, but have different functions, some are unfamiliar and unexpected, yet some sounds we await to hear. However, there are spiritual sounds that we have been given in The Bible to be aware of and may we be ready to hear when the time comes. Last week, we were encouraged to prepare to "hear the voice of GOD." God speaks to us in silence even when we think He is not talking to us; we can see the sudden changes that are occurring around us everyday that appear in the sky, our environment, and what we hear about happenings around the world.
Sounds that provide warning should not be ignored; listen for the sounds in the atmosphere because none of us know when The LORD will return. May we have our spiritual ears trained not to respond to everything that we hear; rather be mindful of what to respond to when the time comes. Chapter 3 in The Book of Daniel gives us a great example to live by: holding onto our values and not compromising our faith because of threats made by various governing bodies. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendnego were brought before Nebuchadnezzar because they refused to worship a golden image that the king had set up.
"Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped..." [Daniel 3:7] .These three young men were ordered by the king to be bound and thrown into a "fiery furnace." Further scripture reading gives us an account of what happened: "...I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." [Daniel 3:25].
My prayer is that all of us will stay strong and not be overtaken with fear to obey the sounds that come in many forms of deception. With all of the many events that are happening quickly, the prophecies in The Bible are being fulfilled. Stay tuned in for the sound of The LORD's return. "And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of Heaven to the other." [Matthew 24:31]
